Registration FAQs

How old does my child need to be to play?

Registrations are open for children aged 4-17.

• Skills development in the Puffers program for 4-5 year olds
• Tackle ready program for 6-7 year olds
• Tackle and league tag program for 8-17 year olds

 

What does my child need to play footy?

Club uniform will be supplied for all children. Footy boots are required, and a mouthguard recommended. Headgear is optional and based on personal preference.

 

Will there be training sessions?

Yes. Training will be held at Gowrie District Playing Fields during the week subject to coach and field availability. This will be discussed with team coaches & managers before the season commences.

 

When are the games held?

Games are held on Sunday mornings, with exception of U16's and U17's which play on Friday night. A draw will be available at the beginning of the season detailing times and locations.

 

Will my child be safe tackling?

The club is committed to ensuring that all kids have fun and play in a safe environment. While confidence and skills are developing, children in the under 6's will play tag only and children in under 7's will play tag only for the first half of the season.

 

Is there anything parents need to do during the season?

Yes! This is a volunteer run club and we couldn't do it without our parents and carers. Each team is required to assist with set up/pack up of the fields and to support the operation of the canteen which generates much needed funds for the club. A roster will be created, and dates provided at the beginning of the season.

 

How do I register my child?

Registrations open on the 1st of December. You will need to register with My Sideline via www.playrugbyleague.com.au
